Creating Peace and Power

A Sisterhood of Self-Empathy

“When we are in contact with our feelings and needs, we humans no longer make good slaves and underlings.”

~ Marshall Rosenberg

International peacemaker and

Founder of Nonviolent Communication

This course is designed for women who’ve struggled with anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and people-pleasing and who are willing to experience more peace and power in their own lives.

You will learn how to notice, name, and stand for your own authentic feelings, needs, and values, also called “self-empathy.” In a domination culture, self-empathy is revolutionary.

According to the World Health Organization, of those who experience unipolar depression, more than half are women. If you suffer from depression and anxiety, they are not indicators that there is anything wrong with you; rather, they are predictable and understandable responses to what is wrong in the system.

If you are a woman born in the western world, you were likely taught from a very young age to ignore your needs and adapt to the needs or expectations of others—behavior which understandably leads to depression and anxiety.

While you may not be able to transform what’s going on “out there” (at least not right away, and certainly not alone), the tools in this program can help you to transform what’s going on within yourself, and then, through the ongoing practice of internal nonviolence and the liberation you experience, you can increase your capacity to make a real difference in your own life and in the world—through paying attention to your needs.

This course offers simple, practical tools including:

  • Introduction to Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Basics

  • Spirituality of NVC and the Power of Knowing Your Needs

  • How to Mine Your Anger and Get the Gold

  • Four Ways to Listen to Difficult Communications (including family)

  • Making Peace with Your Inner Mean Girl

  • Finding Resilience (with Joy!)

All with the warmth of community and sisterhood.

You are encouraged to attend all sessions. However, if you are unable to, don’t worry; they will be recorded (for participants’ use only).

To receive the most from this course, it is also recommended that you set aside:

  • an hour per week to touch base with a buddy

  • 10 minutes alone each morning to set your intention

  • 10 minutes each evening for your evening practice

It is my personal experience that time in Nature, unplugged, will further your practice, and thus, your satisfaction, exponentially.
